4-Day Break

Day 1 – Door-to-door pick-up, then we travel to Lahnstein above the Rhine Valley for a four-night stay. LS

Day 2 – Bernkastel and Cochem (included). Through the wooded Hunsrück hills to descend to the River Moselle and the picturesque town of Bernkastel-Kues. Every advent, visitors flock to see the medieval Christmas market here, with over 40 half-timbered “Buden” (stalls). The narrow little streets with their quaint romantic houses make the perfect Christmas market settting. Then to the equally picturesque Cochem, again on the Moselle, where the decorated wooden stalls add a touch of pre-Christmas flair to the Enderplatz in the town centre. Breathe in the scent of mulled wine and seasonal specialities as you shop for your gifts. B,D

Day 3 – Koblenz, Rhine Valley with Cruise and Rüdesheim (included). We travel first to the Koblenz where the rivers Rhine and Moselle meet, for a morning visit to the Christmas market then to the Rhine side town of Kamp Bornhofen for a cruise on the mighty river itself, with lunch included on board. See the vineyard and quaint castles from the river, and also the famed Lorely Rock. In the afternoon it’s on to Rüdesheim to see on of Germany’s prettiest Christmas markets with over 120 stalls representing 12 different nations. Visit the historical and romantic old quarter of the town, enjoying the Drosselgasse, Christmas lights and entertainment, and on the market square you can admire Europe’s largest nativity scene, with life-size figures. Day 4 – We journey to Calais, then return home. B

You stay for three nights at the 4-star Hotel Mercure situated in parkland to the east of the village of Lahnstein. The hotel overlooks the Lahn Valley and is only a short drive from Koblenz.

Your hotel has a bar, two restaurants and a Panorama Café. There is a gift shop and hairdresser and all bedrooms have TV, telephone and private facilities, including a bathtub and hair-dryer.

The hotel has extensive leisure facilities including sauna, whirlpools and thermal indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
