Day 1 - To Montreux
We depart St Pancras International by Eurostar (Standard Class) for Paris. After crossing the city by coach, we join the TGV service (First Class) to Switzerland. We travel along the shores of Lake Geneva to Montreux for a four-night stay at the Grand Hotel Suisse-Majestic. (D)
Day 2 - Montreux Christmas Market
Just a short stroll away from our hotel is Switzerland's most beautifully located Christmas Market. More than 120 festively-decorated chalets offer a rang of ideas for gifts, decorations and handicrafts, not to mention local produce and warming vin chaud. Around the market, craftsmen display their skills and there is entertainment for all age groups. (B)
Day 3 - Les Diablerets
Today we enjoy a spectacular journey into the Swiss Alps. We travel by rail high up to the resort of Les Diablerets, a charming alpine town of typical chalets and farmsteads. A local guide introduces us to the area and its nature on a gentle walk across the snowy meadows. A traditional fondue lunch at a cosy local inn is also included. (B,L)
Day 4 - Château de Chillon
Today begins with a short journey around Lake Geneva to the enchanting Château de Chillon, a 13th century masterpiece. Rising dramatically from the waters of the lake, the sight of Switzerland's most famous castle is even more dramatic in the winter months. After a guided tour of the château, we head back, where you have a final opportunity to browse around the stalls and sample
the delights of the Montreux Christmas Market. (B,D)
Day 5 - To Paris and London
We say farewell to Montreux and travel back around Lake Geneva to either Geneva or Lausanne. Here we change onto the TGV for Paris (First Class) and after crossing the city by coach, we join the Eurostar (Standard Class) to St Pancras International. (B)
