The Channel Island of Jersey is an especially wonderful place to visit in December. The island is often bathed in the winter sunshine for which it is well known, and even on cloudier days, there's nowhere quite like Jersey to help recharge the batteries and provide a welcome pre-Christmas break.
Itinerary
Day One - Fly to Jersey and transfer to your chosen hotel. After check-in, the rest of the day is yours to savour. Head out to do some 'VAT-free' shopping in this pretty, compact, part-pedestrianised town, or wander down to the harbour to soak up the maritime atmosphere.
This evening offers your first chance to sample the atmosphere of Jersey's Christmas Market, the Fete de Noue. Beneath a canopy of lights, the streets of St Helier bustle with speciality stalls, traditional festive attractions and entertainers.
Day Two - Leave the Christmas Markets behind, today, and explore Jersey's scenic countryside our included half-day tour, which 'circumnavigates' the beautiful island from sweeping St Aubin's Bay, with its vast tracts of sand, to La Corbiere's lighthouse. Step onto the sands of St Ouen's Bay, see the rugged cliffs of the north coast and visit spectacular Mont Orgueil, one of Britain's best preserved castles, which towers over Gorey Harbour and the curve of the Royal Bay of Grouville.
This afternoon, there's another chance to explore St Helier, while comes alive as darkness falls with the twinkling lights of La Fete.
Day Three - Today's optional excursion takes us to the centre of the island to discover the famous and magnificent 'Jersey Zoo' - more correctly known as the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. Learn about the work of its founder Gerald Durrell, whose mission was, and still is, to save species from extinction.
Later, spend a last evening in St Helier, enjoying some 'tax-free' shopping and the fact that Jersey is, as the islanders like to claim, "Europe without the Euro"!
Day Four - Transfer back to the airport to board your flight home at the end of a fantastic Christmas Markets break.
