This extra special River Cruise offers the chance to visit five of Europe's Christmas Markets in five days, sampling the festive traditions and wonderful hospitality of some of Europe's most appealing towns and cities. Admire the magnificent architecture, discover an array of unique gift ideas and revel in the seasonal atmosphere.
Day 1
Early morning coach pick up and journey to Dover/Folkestone for the 8.00am crossing to Calais. Alternatively join at the Holiday Inn Ashford. We will then journey to Rudesheim to join the MS Arlene in time for your included three course evening meal. After dinner, why not take advantage of our optional excursion to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musik Kabinett, which includes a seasonal Gluhwein tasting. D

Day 2
During breakfast, we cruise to the welcoming city of Mainz where you can explore the many festive stalls in the historic market square. Alternatively, join our optional excursion to Frankfurt’s christmas Markets, where you can celebrate Advent in true German style. We return to our vessel in time for dinner, after which you might like to enjoy more time in Mainz. B, L, D

Day 3
Today we arrive in Mannheim from where we include an excursion to Heidelberg’s Christmas Markets, spanning across five cobble-stoned squares and set against the beautiful backdrop of the city’s famous pink sandstone castle. This evening, we will rejoin the vessel in Karlsruhe in time for dinner. B, L, D

Day 4
This morning we cruise to Strasbourg, home of one of France’s oldest Christmas markets, located within the cobbled streets of ‘Petite France’. Join our optional excursion to Freiburg’s Christmas Markets, wonderfully located in front of the historic Town Hall. B, L, D

Day 5
After breakfast, journey through France to Calais and the 5.30pm ferry/Eurotunnel crossing to Dover/Folkestone before transferring to your original point of departure. B

Join us on a guided tour of the world-famous Siegfried's Mechanical Musik Kabinett. Also included as Siegfried's is the opportunity to sample some of Adolf's special glühwein and retain the specially decorated mug as a souvenir (a non-alcoholic version is also available).
Frankfurt Christmas Markets
Situated in the quaint old part of the city near the Romerberg and the banks of the River Main, Frankfurt Christmas Market is justifiably one of the most popular in Germany. With its superb light decorations, huge Christmas tree and myriad of stalls, this Christmas wonderland should not be missed.
Freiburg Christmas Markets
Located on the Rathausplatz, in the heart of the stunning Old Town, Freiburg Christmas Market continues to captivate visitors with its stunning backdrop and array of gift ideas housed in rustic wooden stalls. The fragrance of mulled wine, roast sausages, gingerbread and hot chestnuts fills the idyllic alleys, all very much part of Black Forest Christmas Market tradition.
