Day 1 London • Berlin
We begin with a VIP Home Departure Service™ to London Heathrow Airport and your direct scheduled British Airways flight to Berlin. On arrival you will be transferred to our hotel in Berlin where you will enjoy dinner this evening.
Day 2 Berlin
After breakfast we commence our guided orientation tour passing well known sights such as the Kaiser Wilheim Memorial Church, built between 1891 and 1895 as a memorial to the Emperor Wilheim I. The neo-Renaissance style Reichstag building housed the first session of the new Diet of the Empire in 1894 and, almost one hundred years later, hosted the inaugural session of the Parliament of a reunified Germany. The German and French cathedrals dominate one of Berlin’s most beautiful squares, the Gendarmenmarket, named after King Sergeant Friedrich Wilheim’s “Gens d’Armes”. Also not to be missed is the famous Brandenburg Gate, for so many years a symbol of a divided city. Afternoon at leisure to begin your Christmas shopping at the many markets across the city or in the myriad of tempting shops.
Days 3 - 4 Berlin
With a good breakfast inside you, these days are free for you to further explore the city and continue your pursuit for those special Christmas gifts. The Gendarmenmarkt, arguably one of Europe’s most beautiful squares, hosts the historical Berlin Christmas Market and here you will find yourself in a magical atmosphere surrounded by fairy lights, gifts, treats and a colourful programme of entertainment and events. You may also wish to visit one of the more themed markets dotted around the city such as the Spandauer Altstadt which features in excess of 150 stalls offering practical goods such as kitchenware alongside arts, crafts and medieval wares. Maybe you will choose to explore some of the city’s twelve districts, each with it’s own individual character and charm. The evenings are free for you to discover your own dining venue and you may wish to sample the local speciality ‘Boulette’ (meatballs), accompanied by a ‘Berliner Weisse’ (beer). Whatever you decide, you are sure to be spoiled for choice.
