The great Olympic city on the shore of the Mediterranean may not offer Bavarian 'Christkindl' Christmas markets charm, but what it lacks in snow, it more than makes up for in stylish shopping, atmosphere and some fascinating Catalan-flavoured Christmas markets.
Itinerary
Day One - Fly to Barcelona and transfer into the city to your chosen hotel (transfer time approximately 45 minutes). This evening, enjoy your first taste of the Catalan capital - and a few tapas at one of the countless bars and restaurants.
Day Two - Before we head to Barcelona's Christmas markets, enjoy our guided sightseeing tour this afternoon and discover some of Barcelona's greatest sights. See Gaudi's striking modernista buildings and monuments - including breathtaking Sagrada Familia, and hear the story of the bizarre Caganer gnome and the equally odd tradition of the Caga Tio, as your guide describes a typical Catalan Christmas.
Later you'll have time to wander the stalls of Barcelona's Fira de Santa Llucia Christmas market. Linger here, or head down La Rambla, to walk and wander, window shop and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Barcelona's most famous street.
Day Three - Spend today relaxing in Barcelona and perhaps revisiting her Christmas markets, or join our optional half day excursion to the mountainside monastery of Montserrat. A centuries-old place of pilgrimage, the monastery is accessible only by winding road or cable-car, and the views from its lofty perch are outstanding.
This afternoon, perhaps pay a visit to the Fira de Nadal Christmas market at the Sagrada Familia, or simply relax or explore this dynamic city with its marvellous sights.
Day Four - Depending upon your departure time, spend the last few hours enjoying Barcelona's unique atmosphere, before transferring to the airport to board your flight home.
