 Nice, capital of the French Riviera, has been tempting the British for generations with its Gaelic charm, high sunshine ratio and mild winters. Our clients have enjoyed first class Christmas and summer holidays here for many years. Our hotel is the pleasant and commodious Holiday Inn, excellently situated on the elegant tree-lined Boulevard Victor Hugo, a comfortable stroll from the Promenade des Anglais and an even shorter walk from the grand shops at the heart of the city. With Nice as our base, you will be visiting not only the nearby principality of Monaco but the renowned resorts of Cannes, Villefranche and St Jean Cap Ferrat dotted along this stunning coastline, together with the charming fortified town of St Paul de Vence situated in its mountainside setting.
Day 1 London • Nice
We begin with Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service™ to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport and your direct scheduled British Airways flight to Nice. On arrival you will be transferred to the Holiday Inn Hotel. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 2 Nice
One of the most impressive of modern man’s homages to nature is the gloriously conceptualised floral park of Nice, aptly titled Phoenix. It rises not from ashes but from a giant greenhouse - a dazzling display of exotic vegetation from seven different tropical and subtropical climes, with natural sound effects, hundreds of orchids, free-flying butterflies, tropical fish and insects and a reproduction of the Amazonian rainforest. After our morning visit we return to our hotel for a free afternoon to sample the cafés, restaurants and shops. At Place Massena there is a traditional festive Christmas arts and crafts fair. Tonight you are at leisure to make your own discoveries of dining venues.
Day 3 Christmas Eve • Monte Carlo
This morning we take you on a thrilling Middle Corniche ride to the principality of Monaco, where you will be able to see the fine harbour, host to the spectacular yachts of the super-rich, the commanding position of the palace and the world’s most famous casino of Monte Carlo. We return to our hotel for dinner, after which our tour manager will assist if you wish to attend a midnight service.
Day 4 Christmas Day • Nice
A buffet breakfast starts off Christmas Day, after which you may wish to take a stroll to resharpen your appetite, the sea beckons as does the Old Town and port. Christmas Day lunch is served at your hotel with all the trimmings. A relaxing afternoon to further enjoy Nice. This evening we enjoy a buffet followed by live music.
Day 5 Boxing Day • Villefranche • St Jean Cap Ferrat
After breakfast we drive along the Basse Corniche to the picturesque village of Villefranche, with its steep hillside descent to the ancient harbour. These deep waters are where the large cruise liners dock in this part of the Mediterranean. We then take time for a leisurely stroll on nearby Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, the peninsula where many British celebrities have long had their homes, from Somerset Maughan between the World Wars and immediately after to Andrew Lloyd Webber. Later in the afternoon we return to our hotel for dinner and music.
Day 6 Saint Paul de Vence • Cannes
Buffet breakfast and into the mountains today as we head across the Var, the river once serving as the natural Franco-Italian border, and the enchanting countryside of Provence. Our first stop is the medieval village of Saint Paul de Vence, where many of the Riviera’s famous artists - Modigliani, Soutine and Bonnard among them - stayed at various times from the 1920’s onward and paid for their meals at the local hostelry with pictures. Later they were joined by such stars as Sophia Loren and Burt Lancaster. Descending to the coast we arrive in beautiful Cannes for a leisurely exploration before returning to Nice. We have left you free this evening so that you can make your own dinner choice from the many fine restaurants in the city.
Day 7 Nice • London
After breakfast we transfer to Nice Airport for your direct scheduled return flight to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. On arrival, our staff will greet you and transfer you to Titan transport for your journey home to your own front door.
