 The medieval walled city of Nuremberg has been delighting clients at Christmas time for many years, as has the service and festive cheer provided at the fine Le Meridien Grand Hotel, ideally situated close to the city gates. We are pleased to once again be staging this splendid holiday, which provides you with the opportunity to stroll around the famous Nuremberg Christmas Market, to enjoy a visit to the thousand-year-old town of Rothenburg with its medieval ramparts and its famous Christmas shop, renowned the world over. Enjoy the stunning views of the countryside as we journey along the celebrated Romantic Road, passing through ancient villages, each with their own magnificent church and to Bamberg, the dream city of Emperor Heinrich II.
Day 1 London • Nuremberg
We begin with a VIP Home Departure Service™ to Heathrow or Gatwick Airport and your direct scheduled British Airways or Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt or Munich. On arrival our coach transfers us to Le Meridien Grand Hotel, Nuremberg. Time to freshen up before meeting our hosts for a welcome drink followed by dinner.
Day 2 Nuremberg
After a leisurely breakfast, today is free for you to explore the delights of Nuremberg. A visit to the famous Christmas Market in the main square is a must. Here you will find many stalls selling traditional Christmas gifts, decorations, toys, handicrafts and delicacies. This evening we enjoy a three course dinner after which there will be time to relax.
Day 3 Christmas Eve • Ansbach • Rothenburg
This morning we journey through the Bavarian countryside, stopping at the delightful town of Ansbach, with its three prominent towers of the former collegiate church of St.Gumbertus, now the emblem of the town. We then continue on to the thousand-year-old town of Rothenburg, where there is time to explore the paved street ramparts and old houses that plunge us back into medieval times. We return to Nuremberg late afternoon. This evening we have arranged a Bavarian Christmas Eve Dinner, after which you may wish to attend one of the local churches for traditional Christmas Eve celebrations.
Day 4 Christmas Day • Nuremberg
After another excellent breakfast we set off on our guided walking tour of historic Nuremberg and learn of some of the events that have shaped this corner of Bavaria. After working up a healthy appetite we return to the Grand Hotel for Christmas lunch. The afternoon is free to relax before enjoying a Bavarian buffet followed by music.
Day 5 Boxing Day • Bamberg
Full buffet breakfast followed by a visit to Bamberg, the dream city of Emperor Heinrich II. The cathedral unites the Romanesque with Gothic to provide a masterpiece of beauty. Opposite the cathedral stands the New Residence, an elegant Baroque building and the city which has many examples of other architectural styles to please the eye. The journey to Bamberg takes in some of the most picturesque scenery found in the Bavarian region. We have included a lunch at a nearby restaurant before returning to the hotel to relax before our evening dinner.
Day 6 Nuremberg • London
Today we transfer to Munich or Frankfurt Airport for your direct scheduled British Airways or Lufthansa flight to London. On arrival at Heathrow or Gatwick Airport, our staff will greet you and transfer your transport for your journey home to your own front door.
